Super Foods Part 3

Foods like Freekeh have high amounts of an antioxidant called zexacanthin which help with vision. These caretnoids are a large family of various groups.

A good source of flavonoids is Rotabega. A known powder from the east which lowers LDL cholesterol is Feugreek mostly from Egypt. Just 3-5 grams of the soluble fiber is all that is needed to get a healthy effect.

A lot of controversy has occured over the use of onions and garlic to help reduce LDL cholesterol and high blood pressure. Anecdotally they appear to have some adjunctive support to one's diet particularly in the Mediterranean culture. This may be because they are eating olives, taking olive oil in salads, drinking a glass or two of red wine and are an active people as well.Leeks may have a play a healthy role in lowering cholesterol also.

But, in the east Indian culture a product called Guggul has been used as a means to lower LDL cholesterol in Ayurvedic healing arts.

Another good product to consider to improve one's good cholesterol called HDL is Niacin.
